About

Team

At Babelfish, we understand that many organizations today are eager to harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) but often find themselves uncertain about where and how to implement it effectively. We assist organizations in making informed decisions regarding the integration of AI into their operations. We provide expert guidance to help identify areas where AI can be utilized effectively.

Besides identifying new areas, we also assist organizations that are currently using AI to navigate risks concerning the model, dataset and legislation issues such as the AI Act. Our goal is to help organizations operate responsibly and accountably when leveraging AI technologies.

We firmly believe that ethics should extend beyond mere compliance with legislation. By going beyond legal requirements, we ensure that AI solutions align with the values and principles of our clients. We are passionate about promoting transparency, fairness, and human-centricity in all AI endeavors.

The inspiration for Babelfish struck us during a home renovation project. As we worked together, laying floors and painting, we realized how well we worked together as a team. Combining Jacintha's fresh perspective with Pum's extensive background, we make a formidable team.

We founded Babelfish because we observed a common tendency among existing organizations to embrace AI solutions without thoroughly evaluating the associated risks. Our purpose is to guide organizations, ensuring they adopt AI solutions responsibly, avoid unnecessary risks, and unlock the full potential of this transformative technology.

Together, let's navigate the complexities of AI and build a future where technology truly serves humanity. Contact us to explore how we can assist you in harnessing the power of AI while upholding the highest standards of ethics and risk management.

H.R. (Pum) Walters PhD:

With a PhD in computer science, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our consultancy. I have spent the last years teaching at the HvA and the HU, both standing in front of the classes as constructing the curriculum and courses. Before that, I have worked as a telecom architect at XS4ALL and Ziggo, and as a consultant at Microsoft and Ordina. I also have experience as a researcher at UvA, VU, and CWI. In my free time, I enjoy working on various IT-related projects. Recently, I have been fascinated by the multitude of AI tools available and have undertaken a project to map and compile an overview of these tools. I was surprised by the vast array of AI tools that can significantly enhance our day-to-day lives.

Jacintha Walters MSc:

Team

Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security and a Master's degree in Applied AI, I bring a unique perspective to our consultancy. My Bachelor's research on AI for the Dutch Police allowed me to witness both the potential as the risks and impact of applying AI in a societal environment as law enforcement. During my Master's degree, I delved into the proposed AI Act, examining the readiness of organizations to comply with its provisions. Additionally, I was a teacher in the Cyber Security track at MakeITWork, where I had the opportunity to share my knowledge and inspire people that wanted to switch their career to IT. Beyond my professional pursuits, I am passionate about sustainable food. I make it a point to visit the local farmer every week, cultivate my own garden, and revel in the joy of cooking with fresh, organic produce and proteins.
